AssetTag is a sealed Bluetooth tag that broadcasts to any BLE-enabled AssetTrack or AssetTrack Charge within 80 feet — so the tools, bins, racks and equipment sitting around a tracker you have already paid for turn up on the same map, without each one needing its own cellular radio and subscription.
Where it earns its keep is durability. A 1000 mAh CR2477 coin cell runs it for 3 to 4 years and then costs a couple of dollars to replace. It mounts by adhesive or screws straight through moulded flanges, so it stays put on assets that get handled hard — and an IP67 shell rated to 140 °F means the yard, the wash bay and the back of a truck are all fair game.

AssetTag has no cellular radio and no SIM, so there is nothing to feed. It broadcasts over Bluetooth 4.2 and any BLE-enabled AssetTrack or AssetTrack Charge that comes within 80 feet relays what it saw. How is AssetTag different from AssetTag Pro?
How they report. AssetTag relays through the BLE-enabled AssetTrack devices you already own, within about 80 feet — so it is the cheap way to cover assets clustered around a tracker. AssetTag Pro broadcasts to the Hubble Network instead, a terrestrial network of 100M+ phones and connected devices, which means it reports from places where you own no GPX hardware at all.
How long does the battery last?
Three to four years in normal use, and the data sheet rates it up to 4 years at an average 21 µA. It takes a replaceable 1000 mAh CR2477 lithium coin cell, so when it does run down you spend a couple of dollars rather than replacing the tag.
How frequently does the device report?
AssetTag does not report on its own. When it is in range of a BLE-enabled AssetTrack — about 80 feet — that tracker relays the location, so the cadence you see is the tracker's: hourly, every 6 hours, every 12 hours, or once a day. You change it on the AssetTrack from the GPX platform, not on the tag.
How do I install it on my asset?
Two ways. Peel the adhesive on the back and stick it down, or run screws through the moulded flanges for assets that get handled hard. The flange option is the reason people pick AssetTag over a slimmer tag.
Will it work indoors?
Yes, and that is one of its better uses. The AssetTrack it pairs with positions itself using both GPS and WiFi, so tagged items stay locatable inside warehouses and buildings where satellite signal does not reach.
Will it work internationally?
It works wherever its paired AssetTrack works, because the tag itself only speaks Bluetooth. AssetTrack currently operates in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
