Asset tracking devices and a GPS asset tracking system for every asset.
Asset tracking devices are GPS trackers and Bluetooth tags that report where your equipment, tools, vehicles, containers and inventory are. GPX builds the devices, the network and the platform, so every asset shows on one live map with geofence alerts and idle-time data. Hardware and service come together in one subscription.

Asset tracking devices used to cost too much to put on everything. Not anymore.
For years, the cost of GPS asset tracking forced a compromise: track your most expensive assets, audit the rest, and quietly re-buy whatever walked off. Equipment scattered across job sites, totes held at partner docks, tools that vanished between crews: the losses stayed hidden until the annual count, and by then they were write-offs.
GPX changes that math. AssetTag Pro hardware is included in the subscription, the tag runs up to 3 years on a replaceable coin cell, and it reports through 150 million gateways: phones and devices already in the field. There are no readers or scanners to install for it, so the whole pool is finally worth tagging. Not a sample. Everything.
The result is a live answer to the three questions every operation asks: Where is it? Is it safe? Is it working? A GPS asset tracking system should answer all three, and the sections below show how GPX does it.
Asset tracking hardware matched to every asset class.
A hand tool and a haul truck need different asset tracking hardware. GPX matches a GPS asset tracker or Bluetooth tag to each asset class, and every device reports into the same live map, alerts and analytics. For a side-by-side look at 8 platforms by network and battery life, see our guide to the best asset tracking systems.
Battery-powered Bluetooth tag
Up to 3-year battery, smaller than a credit card, ships activated, and reports through 150 million gateways with nothing to install.
AssetTag Pro
Bluetooth tag · hardware includedThe workhorse of the range: a rugged IP67 tag smaller than a credit card that reports for up to 3 years on a replaceable coin cell, with no charging or wiring. It ships activated with no app pairing, hangs, sticks or screws on, and is picked up by 150 million gateways already in the field. It makes tagging everything worth it, from returnable containers to hand tools.
Hardwired vehicle tracker
BLE RoadWired · GPS + Bluetooth gatewayHardwired to 12 or 24 V vehicle power, so it never needs charging. It is a GPS tracker and a mobile Bluetooth gateway in one: as it drives, it reads nearby GPX tags such as AssetTag Edge, so tools and equipment on board update automatically. IP68 rated with Bluetooth 5.0. A fit for fleet tracking, dealer lots, and financed vehicles.
Heavy equipment GPS tracker
RoadTrack Wired · 2-wire installFor yellow iron and powered trailers. RoadTrack Wired hardwires to 9 to 36 V DC with a 2-wire install, logs a fix every 400 m while moving, and keeps a 24-hour backup battery if power is cut. See heavy equipment tracking for the full story.
SmartLabel disposable GPS tracker
One-time use · peel, stick & goA single-use, peel-and-stick label that rides with the shipment. Tear the tab to activate it: it cannot be powered off, and there is nothing to recover at the destination. Built for high-volume one-way freight and shipment tracking.
Bluetooth tags for indoor zones
Bluetooth asset tracking at scaleLast known area indoors for bins, small tools and inventory by the thousand. AssetTag Edge is 8.5 g and 6 mm thin, runs up to 4 years on a CR2032, and reports when it is near a GPX tracker or gateway, including BLE RoadWired vehicles. It is not room-level RTLS. See warehouse tracking and inventory tracking.
GPS asset tracking with real-time theft alerts. Recovery as a process, not a search.
Every tracked asset reports in, so the moment something moves that should not, you know. Scout AI geofences every site in seconds: plants, yards, job sites and lots. Unauthorized movement fires an instant alert to the right person by text, email or webhook.
When something does walk off, full movement history turns recovery into a procedure: an auditable trail from dispatch to the asset's last reported location, with evidence law enforcement can act on.
Mobile asset tracking that puts idle assets back to work.
Theft is the loss you notice. Idle assets are the loss you do not. Mobile asset tracking shows 100% of the pool, tracked and not sampled, so under-used equipment, held containers and slow-moving inventory show up as data instead of write-offs.
Dwell-time analytics answer the questions that used to take a site visit: which supplier is sitting on your racks, which excavator has not moved in two weeks, which bins never came home last season. Data flows through API, webhooks and data feeds into your ERP, WMS and TMS, so the answers land in the systems your team already uses.
Ask Scout AI about your GPS asset tracking system
Scout AI is the AI analyst inside the GPX platform. Ask a question in plain language and get an answer drawn from every tag and tracker you deploy, on one map with one set of alerts.
Proof from the yard, the plant, and the road.
GPX's GPS data and AI platform transformed visibility across our supply chain. We track returnable containers in real time, cut losses and shortages, and manage assets with far more confidence.
We tagged everything — machines, attachments, even the light towers. The first month, dwell reports surfaced more idle iron than we thought we owned. We cancelled two rentals that week.
A trailer left the lot at 2 a.m. on a Saturday. The alert beat the security-camera footage. It was back on the lot before Monday's first reservation.
Asset tracking, answered.
What is a GPS asset tracker?
A GPS asset tracker is a small device that fixes its own position from satellites and reports it over a cellular network, so you can see where an asset is from anywhere. Battery models such as AssetTrack attach by magnet and need no wiring, while hardwired models like RoadTrack Wired draw vehicle power. Each one reports into the same live map, geofences and alerts in the GPX platform.
What are asset tracking devices and how do they work?
Asset tracking devices are GPS trackers and Bluetooth tags fixed to equipment, tools, vehicles, containers or inventory. Each device reports its location, and the GPX platform turns those reports into a live map, geofences around your sites, instant movement alerts and dwell-time analytics. Data also flows to your ERP, WMS or TMS through API, webhooks and data feeds, so your team sees locations in the systems it already uses.
What types of assets can asset tracking devices monitor?
Almost anything your operation owns: heavy equipment, tools and attachments, vehicles and trailers, returnable containers, racks, pallets, totes, inventory and freight in transit. GPX matches the hardware to the asset, from AssetTag Pro tags on containers to RoadTrack Wired on powered equipment and SmartLabel on one-way shipments. See the full range of GPX tracking devices.
Is GPX a real-time location system (RTLS)?
No. GPX is not an RTLS and does not promise room-level accuracy indoors. Outdoors, GPS trackers report live location. Indoors, Bluetooth tags report their last known area when they are near a GPX tracker or gateway, which is enough to tell you which building, dock or zone an asset was last seen in. For most fleets, tools and containers, that answers where it is without installing reader infrastructure.
What is the difference between GPS and Bluetooth asset tracking?
GPS trackers find their own position from satellites, so they work anywhere outdoors and suit vehicles, equipment and freight on the move. Bluetooth tags are smaller, cheaper to deploy in bulk and run for years, but they need something nearby to hear them: a GPX tracker or gateway, or, for AssetTag Pro, phones and devices across 150 million gateways. GPX runs both on one platform.
How long does the battery last on an asset tracking device?
Battery life runs up to 5 years, depending on device. AssetTag Pro lasts up to 3 years on a replaceable coin cell, AssetTag Edge up to 4 years on a CR2032, and AssetTrack Mini up to 5 years. Battery life also depends on how often a device reports. Hardwired trackers such as RoadTrack Wired draw vehicle power and keep a backup battery.
How do you track non-powered assets?
Use a battery-powered tracker or tag that needs no wiring. For trailers, containers and attachments, a magnetic AssetTrack or AssetTrack Mini hides on steel and reports by cellular GPS. For tools, racks and totes, AssetTag Pro hangs, sticks or screws on and ships activated with no app pairing. Both report into the same map and alerts as your powered fleet. See trailer tracking for one example.
How much does a GPS asset tracking system cost?
Cost depends on how many assets you track and which devices fit them. With GPX, hardware and service come together in one subscription, so there is no separate hardware purchase, and the platform covers the live map, geofencing, alerts, dwell analytics and Scout AI.
